Hard Rock theme park set for Myrtle Beach
"The first Hard Rock theme park, in the works since 2003, is set to begin construction this spring in Myrtle Beach, S.C., after financing for the $400 million project was secured this week." From Amusement Business.

VisionLand amusement park now `Alabama Adventure'
"The VisionLand amusement park is getting a new name to go along with millions of dollars in improvements. Southland Entertainment Group said Monday the park, located west of Birmingham [AL], would now be called 'Alabama Adventure.'" From The Ledger Enquirer.

Six Flags New Orleans closed for 2006
"Due to substantial damage caused by Hurricane Katrina, Six Flags New Orleans will remain closed for the 2006 season, amusement park officials said in a news release." From The Pensacola News Journal.


Free tickets a part of Great Adventure kickoff
"Six Flags Great Adventure and Wild Safari in Jackson, N.J., is giving away 45,000 tickets for its opening weekend this season to kick off Six Flags' yearlong 45th anniversary celebration, it was announced Wednesday. The first 45,000 people who register online can sign up for the tickets for the March 31-April 2 weekend." From Amusement Business.

Six Flags Closes Ride After 7 Hurt
"The Texas Tornado ride at Six Flags Over Texas will remain closed for the rest of the week after seven people were injured on the ride during the weekend, a park official said Monday. The incident happened Sunday evening after a mechanical failure triggered a safety device that stopped the circular swing and quickly lowered riders to the ground quickly." From NBC5i.

"The Myrtle Beach Pavilion Amusement Park, which has greeted South Carolina tourists every summer since 1948, will close after this season, park owner Burroughs & Chapin Co. Inc. announced Thursday." From Amusement Business.

City Park reopens Storyland, driving range and gardens
"Several New Orleans City Park facilities are back open after Hurricane Katrina kept them closed for months, said park CEO Bob Becker... Reopened facilities include: Storyland, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. The children's fairy tale theme park features 26 storybook exhibits." From New Orleans CityBusiness.

Woman Awarded $3.6M After Being Injured On Roller Coaster
"A jury awarded a woman $3.6 million Friday after she was injured on a roller coaster at a local amusement park. The accident happened six years ago at the former Six Flags Worlds of Adventure.
Terry Wang, 44, of the Milwaukee area, was hit by either a rock or a cell phone while on the Villain roller coaster, NewsChannel5 reported." From NewsNet5.com.

Knott's Cuts Adult Ticket Price
"Knott's Berry Farm, which has struggled to boost attendance in recent years, is counting on lower ticket prices and cheaper cotton candy to attract more customers. Starting today, the Buena Park [CA] venue will cut adult admission 11%, from $45 a ticket to $39.95, the company said Tuesday. The price of cotton candy will be reduced to 25 cents from $2.75."
