Man Dies After Riding Goliath Roller Coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia
"A 45-year-old man died of an apparent heart attack after losing consciousness at the end of the newest roller coaster ride at Six Flags Over Georgia amusement park." On FoxNews.com.


Retro amusement park debuts in Fort Smith
"An old-fashioned amusement park with a Ferris wheel and other retro attractions recently opened in downtown Fort Smith, Ark. One of the main attractions of the Park at West End is a 1930s Ferris wheel that originally was displayed at the California Pacific International Exposition in San Diego in 1935-36." Girl Hospitalized After Riding Roller Coaster
"A girl riding a roller coaster at Adventureland in Altoona [IA] was hospitalized in fair condition after an accident. An Adventureland representative confirmed that the girl was riding the Tornado roller coaster Monday when she was hit in the head by a loose board that was placed on the side of the ride and was not part of the roller coaster." Man dies after riding a roller coaster at Busch Gardens
"A Palm Harbor man has died after riding a roller coaster at Busch Gardens. Thomas Welch, 52, apparently said he didn't feel well after riding Gwazi yesterday. Emergency crews at the park gave him CPR. He died later at University Community Hospital. He apparently died of a heart attack, according to a statement released by the attraction." City to work to annex Six Flags park
"With the future of Six Flags California's Magic Mountain uncertain, city officials will pursue partnering with the theme park's owners to keep the operation humming. Armed with an array of financial incentives they say beat those offered by the county -- on whose turf the park lies -- Santa Clarita officials are poised to travel to New York to begin talks with owner Six Flags Corp. that would broach annexation to the city. 'They are the No. 1 employer for the valley and we have a large incentive to work with them and make them as profitable as they can be,' said Assistant City Manager Ken Striplin. 'We will be contacting them this week.'" From The LA Daily News.

Theme park actor in coma after mock gunfight
"New Jersey authorities are trying to figure out how an actor who played a gunslinger at the Wild West City theme park wound up in a coma. It appears Scott Harris was shot. But authorities don't know whether there's a bullet, a bullet fragment or some other object lodged in his brain. Harris collapsed while taking part in a show at the attraction in Byram Township last Friday. It wasn't until he was taken to the hospital that authorities found out that the scratch on his forehead came from a shooting." From KTRK.

Hard Rock Park, an approximately 140-acre theme park celebrating the spirit of rock and roll, broke ground in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, today. The park is slated to open in 2008.

Woman Loses Consciousness After Disney Ride
"A woman lost consciousness while getting off a Walt Disney World ride, which two people have died on in the past 13 months, authorities said. The 35-year-old woman was getting off 'Mission: Space' when she fell about 8:30 p.m. Monday, Deputy Chief Bo Jones of the Reedy Creek Fire Department told the Orlando Sentinel." AP Story.

Mishap leaves dozen people trapped on roller coaster
"A malfunction on a roller coaster at a northern Indiana amusement park left about a dozen people hanging upside down about 50 feet in the air for about 45 minutes before they were rescued. Firefighters used ladder trucks to nudge the coaster cars through the loop to an upright position on the Afterburner ride at Fun Spot Amusement Park Saturday afternoon, said T.R. Hagerty of the Angola Fire Department." From The News-Sentinel.
