Elvis' favorite amusement park ride headed to N.C.
"Elvis Presley's favorite amusement park ride is zippin' off to North Carolina. A roller coaster called the Zippin Pippin has been sold to tourism officials in Roanoke Rapids. A pair of Nashville collectors bought the coaster at auction in June and said Friday they sold it to Roanoke Rapids for the planned Carolina Crossroads entertainment complex. Five arrests are made at Six Flags
"Police arrested five men and charged them with forging hand stamps to allow people to enter the Six Flags Great Adventure theme park [NJ] without paying, police reported Monday. Multiple drug charges were also handed out against the four Union men and one Queens man, said Sgt. Thomas Hratko. The five individuals were in a passenger vehicle when it was stopped at 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Hratko said." From Asbury Park Press Online.
Six Flags adopts guest policy
"New York-based Six Flags Inc. (NYSE: SIX), which this year made all of its theme parks smoke-free, now is putting out regulations beginning with the 2007 season that dictate how guests should behave and dress... Under the new policy, guests are required to wear appropriate clothing; clothes with rude, vulgar or offensive language or graphics won't be permitted. The lights on the Ferris wheel and Salt 'n Pepper Shaker twinkled and people from Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Nebraska clamored to own a piece of the 61-year-old amusement park. 'Things are going well. I am pretty pleased with the turnout,' park owner Don 'Woody' Woodward said. 'I feel pretty good about this. You can't imagine the things we found for auction,' he said."
