Disney looks home for renewal
"Since California Adventure made its debut six years ago, billed as Disneyland's hipper, edgier younger sibling, the entertainment colossus founded by Walt Disney has wandered far from the Orange County city where he launched his first park in 1955. Now, with Disney executives planning a massive retooling of the struggling California Adventure, the company is showing a renewed push to transform Anaheim's Resort District -- as much as possible -- in the image of the spectacularly successful Walt Disney World." California company backs out of theme park purchase
"A California amusement park operator has decided not to buy the now-bankrupt Wild West World [KS]. Parks America Inc. had offered $12 million, and company officials thought they could reach an agreement by Friday, the extended deadline creditors and Wild West World agreed on for the theme park to avoid liquidation of its assets. The deadline had been Sept. 28. The Santa Monica, Calif.-based Parks America is still interested in buying individual Wild West World rides, but not the entire park, said Gaye Tibbets, the Wichita lawyer who represented the company during purchase talks."
