Disney's Animal Kingdom
Walt Disney World's fourth theme park, Disney's Animal Kingdom, is part traditional Disney Magic and attractions, part innovative zoo (although Disney shies away from the "Z" word, since they'd like to avoid giving the impression that the animals are the only attraction). Animal Kingdom features animal enclosures, live entertainment, the traditional Disney characters, and the obsessively accurate theming that Disney has always been known for. Picture the sort of detail in theming found in the various Epcot World Showcase pavilions extended through entire lands representing an East African coastal port village, an archeological dig for dinosaurs crossed with a 1950's era tourist trap, an Asian village at the foot of Everest, and a safari village that houses an artists colony with a thing for animals. And there are, of course, ample opportunities for shopping and eating.
With the opening of Expedition Everest Disney's Animal Kingdom now has a spectacular thrill ride the equal of anything else at Walt Disney World.
Animal Kingdom relies on daylight and doesn't usually remain open as late into the night as the other Walt Disney World parks in season.
