HolidayWorld is all a-Twitter
Indiana's HolidayWorld theme park, the first park to take advantage of blogging to stay in touch with guests, has added micro-blogging via Twitter to continually update guests through short messages available at their website or even by cell phone text messaging. You could get up to the minute information while traveling to HolidayWorld or even in the park.

Closed Geauga Lake amusement park to auction 1925-vintage coaster
"The closed Geauga (jee-AW'-guh) Lake amusement park in northeast Ohio plans to auction its 1925-vintage Big Dipper and other roller coasters. Geauga Lake southeast of Cleveland will hold an auction June 17 and 18 to sell the wooden Big Dipper and other rides including the Double Loop, Raging Wolf Bobs and Villain." From Ohio.com.

VPR Regional News: Ben & Jerry's freezes plan for theme park
"Ben & Jerry's Homemade appears to be backing away from plans for a big theme park at its Waterbury facility. In November of 2005, the company announced plans to turn its ice cream factory off Route 100 into an ice cream theme park. The factory is already a top Vermont tourist attraction. But now the company is floating a much more modest proposal for expanded parking and an 850-square-foot restroom area." From VPR Regional News.

Two Gilroy Gardens board members resign
"Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park announced today that President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Bob Kraemer has informed the park of his resignation for personal reasons. In addition to the resignation of Mr. Kraemer, founder Michael Bonfante has also resigned stating he has 'fulfilled his dream of building a theme park and it is time to retire and go onto other dreams.'" Fire destroys museum at Tweetsie Railroad
"BLOWING ROCK, N.C. --The oldest building at the Tweetsie Railroad and decades of history are in ruins. The depot, built in 1957, went up in flames early Sunday morning. People passing by the theme park saw the flames shooting through the roof and called 911, according to officials with the Blowing Rock Volunteer Fire Department. The building is completely unrecognizable, reduced to charred remnants and mangled metal. When they arrived shortly after 4 a.m., the fire was fully involved, the building was already destroyed. No one was hurt. The depot housed a gift shop, first aid and storage facilities, a concession stand, and a museum full of old railroad memorabilia." From WCNC.

High-Tech Roller Coaster Will Hover Over Heads At Orlando Theme Park
"A new state-of-the-art roller coaster scheduled to open at Universal Studios Orlando theme park will hover over the heads of visitors as it winds the length of the park during customized adventures. The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Roller Coaster ride will send visitors through the theme park and feature a record-breaking loop, Local 6 has learned. Riders will also be able to make choices on their adventure." From WKMG Orlando.

TEA/ERA Attraction Attendance 2007 Released

The TEA/ERA Attraction Attendance 2007 Report is out and, once again, Disney has the top eight theme parks (by attendance) in the world. Numbers were looking up for many parks around the world. You can download the report from Park World Online at the link above.

Aquatica Becomes Newest Central Florida Theme Park
Sea World opened their newest water park in Orlando this weekend. Aquatica became the first new theme park to open in Central Florida in eight years. From WESH Orlando.
